One of my favorite things about the daycare we put our son in is the number of art projects they do with the kids. At least three times a month, we get a little creation using our little one’s unique art skills. At 3 months old, he is very good at making art with his hands and his feet. Haha!
For the holidays, he has brought home some of the cutest footprint artwork I’ve ever seen. Maybe I’m just biased? Oh well, I may be. But! If you have little ones of your own, these are some serious crafty inspiration.
I know, I know. I’m aware that this makes me sound like a crazy person, but I’m not alone – my husband hates it too. Birds of a feather and all that jazz.
However, when the fall rolls around, we love pumpkin-flavored foods. Pumpkin donuts. Pumpkin spice hot chocolate. Pumpkin pancakes. When Thanksgiving came around, I really felt like I was missing out on a delicious touch of pumpkin.
Growing up, my family had a handful of holiday traditions that I treasured from year-to-year. Honestly, some of them may not have even been intentional “traditions”, but there were simple things I looked forward to. For instance, I loved helping my mom put up all the decorations, carefully hanging garland around the fireplace and unwrapping the handpainted Christmas village. Later, we added an electric train around the tree that was both festive and a pain in the ass.
A few years ago, my husband and I had a conversation about what we love about the holidays and ways we wanted to celebrate. The result was a short list of things we want to ensure we do every year, even if we’re crazy busy. We budget money and time to make these happen every year and everything else for the season is a bonus!
We are so excited about this year’s Christmas theme! We’re celebrating the star of the show. The jolliest guy around. Oh yes, Santa Clause!
Lots of red and white has shown up in our house. And as we prepare for the big guy’s arrival, we’ll be making tons of crafty stuff inspired by his jolly demeanor. There will be gift ideas, printables, and so much more!
So check back all through the month for updates of our how Jolly Holiday is coming together.

Christmas is in full swing in our home! Decorating for our Coastal Christmas theme was fun, easy, and little sandy. We’re spending our last Christmas in our small San Diego apartment and wanted to capitalize on the smaller canvas for our beachy theme.
Collecting the materials to bring the vision to life was fairly easy. No – I didn’t go to the beach. Real seashells and starfish are an important part of the ocean ecosystem. Instead, I opted for ordering manufactured replicas from Oriental Trading or shopping in person at Michaels.
