Pregnancy #2 – Week 29

Baby is the size of… a Hawaiian pineapple, cottontail rabbit, Barbie convertible, couronne bread

Highlight of the Week… Halloween is so fun with a baby in the belly! Baby and I got to be The Great Plumpkin with our Linus and Charlie Brown in tow and people loved it! Thankfully our trick-or-treating route was pretty short because the pregnancy waddle started to come into play as well. Hahaha!

Frustration of the Week… No real frustrations this week because the medication is doing its work and we suddenly remembered the giant box of Breathe Right Nasal Strips from last year. Huge saving grace!

Cute thing the boys did… Cameron got to feel the baby kick for the first time. Unfortunately, it was a spontaneous moment and we didn’t get it on camera, but you better believe we keep trying. He’s fascinated by my belly now – constantly lifting my shirt to see it and then lowering it super fast to hide it.

Curiosities… Sadly the week of Halloween is also the week we discovered that sugar massively triggers my heartburn. The universe has a super rude sense of humor.

Pregnancy #2 – Week 28

Baby is the size of… a tropical coconut, echidna, rollerblade, charlotte royale

Highlight of the Week… I passed my one-hour glucose test and officially scheduled my c-section. Getting those milestones behind me is a pretty big relief and now it feels like we can start planning for Baby’s arrival.

For those who may be wondering, my doctor and I agreed a scheduled c-section is the best option for this baby. Attempting to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) is incredibly dangerous with the births so close together. If I were to try to labor, I run a high risk of uterine rupture and no one wants that. So – a c-section it is! The earliest we can preschedule (for insurance purposes) is 39 weeks. If Baby decides it wants an earlier birthday, I will head straight to the hospital for surgery – no laboring will be allowed. (This was one of my biggest questions because this baby seems very opinionated!)

Frustration of the Week… Sinuses, allergies, heartburn, oh my! I’ve been put THROUGH it this week and it’s been a struggle. Thankfully, I talked to my doctor about the medications I’m taking and if overlapping them will harm the baby (it won’t). I live in fear of overmedicating so I wanted to be sure. Now it’s just to get through this nastiness.

Cute thing the boys did… While shopping at Joann for Halloween costume supplies, Cam kept leaning forward to hug my belly. Having it at eye level definitely had a sweet effect – he couldn’t get enough of it! Gently patting it, resting his head on it, hugging it. Totally the sweetest.

Curiosities… This past week, I had my first small dose of light contractions – which is strangely early. The contractions were at the front of my belly, not through my back and sides like the Braxton Hicks were with Cam. My doctor seemed unconcerned about them but naturally, I was like, “This is weeeird!” We’re definitely keeping an eye on them and tracking if they happen more frequently.

Pregnancy #2 – Week 27

Baby is the size of… a bunch of bananas, fennec fox, camping lantern, boule de pain

Highlight of the Week… We’re finally seeing consistent movement of the baby on the outside and it’s awesome. Watching my belly making random motions is so cool and weird! This baby is incredibly active, doing all kinds of flips and turns that it keeps surprising me with where the next sensation is going to come from.

Frustration of the Week… Actually pretty comical. Baby has very strong opinions already about what position I’m in. If I’m too much to my left or right, I get a big jab in the side that is a very clear, “Hey! Move it!” motion. If I want to lay on my left side but baby has other ideas, they very quickly let me know. Definitely a second child and I can already tell we’re in for it with this one.

Cute thing the boys did… Cam had a rough time sleeping this week but it just provided the opportunity for adorable late night interactions with the belly. He’s starting to point to my belly and give me looks like, “What is this?” He’s still giving the belly hugs but the hugs are longer and more deliberate, which I can’t get enough of.

Curiosities… The weather is finally cooling down, so I’m excited to get outside for walks more often. I’ve been working really hard to take care of my muscles and back so we don’t have a repeat of last pregnancy. Keep your fingers crossed that everything stays as comfortable as possible.

Pregnancy #2 – Week 26

Baby is the size of… a butternut squash, slow loris, bowling pin, tarte tatin

Highlight of the Week… Sharing my baby bump with our family. Because I won’t be able to travel for the holidays, we took a special trip out to see our family now. Baby got all kinds of love and we can’t wait for baby to meet everyone on the other side.

Frustration of the Week… My lap is disappearing which is super frustrating for Jax and Cameron. Giving cuddles and sitting together is getting a bit harder as my belly grows.

Cute thing the boys did… I feel like I write about this a lot but I love how much Cam and Jax cuddle with my belly. They are sweet little moments.

Pregnancy #2 – Week 25

Baby is the size of… a napa cabbage, prairie dog, baseball glove, fougasse

Highlight of the Week… Baby and I took an adventure to San Diego this weekend for a conference and had a blast dancing to all the music. Baby kicked and punched like crazy to the fun music and was a fun topic of conversation amongst all the women I met this week.

Frustration of the Week… Recovery time from being active is so much longer when I’m pregnant. I got home on Sunday evening and it’s now Tuesday… and I feel like I’ve been hit by a train still. Plus I’ve gotten a nasty bit of sinus mess from my travels. Unfortunately, that also means I can’t take an Advil Cold and Sinus and I get super frustrated trying to carefully pair together all the stuff I can take and do to get some relief.

Cute thing the boys did… All the boys missed the baby and me this weekend. Jax actually cuddled my belly a good portion of the first night back and Cameron has given it a few hugs. Glad the baby is already fitting in.

Curiosities… The biggest difference between Cameron and this baby is… this baby likes to party! If I was up walking around during the day, Cam was lulled to sleep. This baby wants to be apart of everything I’m doing – from walking around, working, and dancing. It’s like having a partner in crime while pregnant.
